And why COWS?

An interesting question was posed to me today, “How did you come up with the name for the band?”

Well, I’ve always found it easy to come up with names for other bands but more tricky to find one for the one I’m actually putting together. The possibilities grew on an ever lengthening list on paper. In the end I asked people who were on a car journey with me to shout out things that they could see or, indeed, any words that popped into their minds. I didn’t explain what it was for.

Sometimes a chance collision of words can be exciting and interesting. Cows Lying Down came out of this car car journey along the A19; just north of Stockton on Tees. An observation of , “Cows lying down on the green hillside” became , ” Cows Lying Down”. However ,come to think of it, “On the green hillside” would work too…..
